At my workplace we're required to wear ID badges, and everyone does just that. There are big signs reminding you of the policy. As an experiment I stopped wearing mine. I was curious how long it'd take for someone to call me out on it.
Two years and counting.
I was thinking it was maybe because people know me, but... no, I occasionally go to other offices and it works there too.

I once had some sales drone get 10 minutes into asking me if I made any good contracts that day before my blank stare made him realize I had no idea what he was talking about

People love to talk about themselves after all, and you gain a lot more by letting them go >_>
