What we call archangels re-implement patterns around the the planet, and across generations, to provide paradigms accessible within language/culture constraints. What we do with the paradigms is up to us, that's where freedom fits in. If we screw things up too badly, they'll intervene, but it's a serious clusterfuck for that to happen.
The two nexuses that we work closely, and much more distantly, with, have current americas, africas, west- and mid- european, and eastern avatars. Probably others we know nothing of too.

If either chaos or creation get too much of an upper hand, the Arch's are left, as eternal sentient entities, eternal as in beyond the end of our universe, to deal with not having a home to live in.
Their plans for a post-end-of-the-universe world to occupy depend heavily on the end of days happening in fairly closely conformance with Chuck's original idea. A really major clusterfuck is not at all in their best interests.

Which may be why they take such an interest in the Death Defiers, the apex predators that human evolution has produced, who have already spread themselves across our universe.
Made to measure ground troops to subjugate chaos or creation in search of ther own ascendancy, with the long term benefit of existing beyond the end of time, a dangerous ally for the Arch's.
@kel @oneirofaerie @kara Might have known our wing'ed compatriot would cotton on to that reference to Supernatural. We enjoy the metaness of its paradigm. Intent caused chaos, Amaya, Chuck's older sister. Then caused Chuck. Chuck used Amaya's chaos to create the universe.

The patterns they use with us particularly, pre-date Abrahamic mysticism and religions, because, well, that's what they've determined we're most comfortable around.
Would have been nice if we could have an opinion about it too.
But this is their job and they've been at it since the start of our universe. As the interface between chaos and creation, it's their task to make available to our malleable little minds, gods that will keep the balance. This balance is in the direct interests of the longevity of our universe.
